WBB Insider - Top Club Teams of the South Part III

After a long exposure weekend things continued to become more clear as we look at the top club teams of the South. Two teams advance to major national tournament finals as Tennessee Flight won the Boo Williams New port News Division over the Maryland Belles and the Miami Suns fell 1 point short to the defending Deep South Champions Mac Irvin Fire out of Chicago. Several big head to head match ups also took place which give us a better look at the top club teams of the south.

2013 Player of the Week - Rebecca Greenwell - TN Flight - After coming off an 8 month break from basketball recovering from ACL surgery Greenwell was named the MVP at Boo Williams in her first event back.

2014 Player of the Week - Dominique Simpson - FGB - Big time weekend for the sophomore from Orlando saw her score double figures in all four games at Deep South and pick up half a dozen BCS offers in her first day back from the event.

2015 Player of the Week - Beatrice Mompremier - Miami Suns - Dominating the top section at Deep South this week Mempremier has already made a national name for herself and likely will be a top 20 recruit in the class of 2015.

1. Tennessee Flight - Won Boo Williams, perhaps the most dominant club in the South. The Flight have the top player in 3 different states and look like an early favorite to run the table at any tournament they attend.

2. Miami Suns - Runner Up at Deep South minus starting point guard Aisha Edwards, the Suns beat Kentucky Premier Parmely in the Deep South Semi-Finals. The Suns likely will likely meet up with Central Florida Elite in Spring Fling II

3. Kentucky Premier - Final Four at Deep South without Mikayla Epps and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers both of which were at Prom and are committed to Louisville already. Look for a big summer from Premier as they get both of those two players back in the line up.

4. Georgia Metros - Final Four at Boo Williams, led Tennessee Flight 22-2 before falling in the end. The post combination of Nasheema Oliver and Marques Webb may be the best in the country this year.

5. FGB Elite - 5th Place finish at Deep South, only loss was to Tree of Hope (WA) by single digits and by 14 points to the Miami Suns two weeks ago. Trimaine McCullough, Sha'Quoia Crockett, and Dominique Simpson may be the best back court trio in the South.

6. Arkansas Mavericks - Pool champion at Boo Williams and Elite 8 in the Gold Bracket for Jessica Jackson and company. The Mavericks beat Essence in pool play to move all the way up to 6th in the region.

7. Essence Purple - Won the Silver Bracket at Boo Williams with a win over Central Florida Elite, lost to the Arkansas Mavericks in pool play who advanced to the Gold Elite 8. Shayla Cooper showed she could be the top player for Essence this year with an All Tournament Selection for Essence.

8. AOT - Two pool losses drop them in the rankings this week but they did win the bronze bracket on Sunday at Boo Williams.  Diamond DeShields was named to the All Tournament team at Boo Williams.

9. Palmetto 76ers - Snubbed out of the top bracket at Boo Williams the 76ers are the top team in South Carolina and sport big time prospects in Aja Wilson and Alaina Coates.

10. Peak Performance - The loss of Nigia Greene heavily impacts them this travel season as she was set to be their lead guard. Decent showing at Boo Williams.

11. Atlanta Celtics
12. Blue Star Florida Royal
13. Lady Phoenix (NC)
14. South Carolina 76ers
15. Kentucky Premier Fothergill
16. Knoxville Panthers Gold
17. Memphis Elite
18. Central Florida Elite
19. Wallace Prather Celtics
20. Alabama Flight 15U
